Dean Braithwaite

February 17, 1929 — May 4, 2014

HOYTSVILLE – Dean S. Braithwaite died May 4, 2014 at his home in Hoytsville, UT.

He was born February 17, 1929 to Miles and Ellen Braithwaite in Manti, UT. He married Beulah Eklund on March 21, 1951 in the Manti Temple.  She passed away May 24, 1969.  On November 6, 1969 he married Bertha E. Anderson in the Salt Lake Temple.

He graduated from Manti High School and attended Snow College.  He served as Stake Missionary, Elder’s Quorum President, Scout Master, Building Rep. Young Men’s Presidency, and Assistant Ward Clerk.  He and Bertha served an LDS mission to the Farm Management Cow Ranch, Florida. He was a Manti LaSal National Forest Service Employee. He worked in the Construction business as a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic.  He helped build I-70, I-80, I-84, and I-15.  He was a Mink Rancher and Owned/Operated Braithwaite Repair.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting Scenic Sites of the Western States.  He enjoyed visits from his family.

He is survived by his wife Bertha, his children, Linda (Brent) Staley, Wendy (Darwin) Robinson, Susan (Kenny) Siddoway, Sherry (Merlyn) Parrett, Stephen (Elaine) Braithwaite, and David (Kristy) Braithwaite, 25 grandchildren, and 47 great grandchildren.  Siblings: Shirleen (Byard) Petersen and Barbara (Jesse Lue) Bradley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beulah, siblings Ardeth Madsen, Lois Black, Everett and Harold Braithwaite.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 15th, 6-8 pm at the Hoytsville LDS Church.  Funeral services will be held at noon, May 16, 2014 in the Hoytsville Church with a viewing from 10:45-11:45 am prior to the services.  Interment will be held at the Coalville Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the Hoytsville 1 st Ward members, neighbors and the Hospice Staff.
