MORGAN - Darryl Ellis Spendlove, 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on September 15, 2024 at Family Tree Assisted Living of Morgan, Utah.
Darryl was born in Ogden on December 10, 1939. He was the son of Ellis and Hazel. He spent is formative years in Milton, Utah. He graduated from Morgan High School. He married the love of his life, Linda Richins, on July 17, 1964 in Morgan, Utah; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They started their life together in Virginia where he was stationed in the United States Army.
After his time in military service, they returned to Morgan to settle down and raise a family. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he became a civilian private contractor working at Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, Utah. He continued working there, eventually earning promotions up to manager of the Small Computer Tech Department. He retired in 1995 after 34 years serving the state and federal governments as a private contractor.
After retirement, Darryl and Linda served as church service missionaries in the Eccles Park Ward for two years. He enjoyed serving the Lord alongside his eternal companion.
Dad’s infamy is forever etched in his many late afternoon and evening driving trips around Morgan County and through the city. He enjoyed tinkering around the house and was an adept farmer and gardener, using his knowledge learned growing up on a small dry farm in Milton.
They greatly enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren and camping at their family land in the Uinta Mountains.
After a wondrous union with his adoring wife, Linda; they leave behind their children: Tina (Mike) L’Estrange, Mike (Sharrie) Spendlove, and Curtis (Danyell) Spendlove.
He loved his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Gary (Sherrill) Spendlove.
The family expresses their deep gratitude for Ogden Clinic Urology, Atlas Homecare and Hospice, and Family Tree Assisted Living of Morgan. The genuine love and care you provided Darryl during these difficult challenges helped him and his family maintain hope and comfort throughout. Your teams consist of the best people in our wonderful state.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21 at 11 AM in the Milton LDS Chapel at 1255 North Morgan Valley Drive. The family will greet guests at a viewing the evening before: Friday September 20 between 6-8 PM at Walker Mortuary 45 W 200 N, Morgan, Utah and before the funeral service Saturday at 9:45 AM at the Milton LDS Chapel.
Interment will follow the funeral service at the Milton Cemetery.
