Dane V. Proffitt

Dane V. Proffitt, age 65, passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, devotion, and quiet strength.

For 21 years, Dane was the husband of Stephanie Proffitt, her steady partner and protector. Together they shared a deep bond built on loyalty, resilience, and unconditional love. He was also the devoted companion to their cherished puppies, Dakota and Badger, and is now reunited with Grizz, his favorite dog, who passed the year before and never truly left his heart.

Dane was a loving father to Ryan Kimmel; Jared (Hollye) Proffitt; Ashley (Steve) Anderson. Step-father to Valerie (Walter) Hepworth; and Casey (Alexia) Putcher, and a grandfather to 13 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Dane is survived by his brother, Kurt Proffitt.

Dane was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Tiffini Putcher; his father, Donald (Geneva) Proffitt; his mother, Joy Proffitt; his sister-in-law Julie Proffitt and granddaughter Lynzie Jean Hepworth.

A lifelong ER, ICU, and Travel Nurse, Dane dedicated his life to caring for others. He spent 32 years caring for veterans, where his compassion, calm presence, and unwavering commitment touched countless veterans and colleagues alike. Nursing was not just his profession—it was his calling.

Known as a gentle giant, Dane was a mountain man at heart. He found peace in the outdoors and joy in restoring old cars, collecting antiques, and appreciating the stories behind well-worn treasures. Though often quiet, his generosity, integrity, and kindness spoke volumes. He gave freely of himself and asked little in return.

Dane faced a lifelong struggle with diabetes, a challenge he carried with strength and grace. His passing came far too soon, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dane’s life was defined by service, humility, and love. His legacy lives on through his family, friends, his patients, and the many lives he touched simply by being who he was. Dane will forever be remembered, forever loved, and profoundly missed.
