Crae Grant Vernon passed away July 10, 2025 at home in Hoytsville, Utah.
He was born December 6, 1956 to DeVar M. Vernon and LaVaun G. Vernon in Coalville, Utah.
As a young boy he loved riding his bike in Coalville. Later on his family moved to Hoytsville and he enjoyed playing on the farm and riding his horse to posse. In high school he was active in football, wrestling, band, and sang in the choir. He started singing, playing the guitar and the piano when he was young. He performed for school programs and assemblies. Then he was in a barbershop quartet competing at the Utah State Fair. After high school he moved on to Weber State College in a drama class where he performed in “Once Upon A Mattress,” with which he also traveled with his class to Austria.
Along with music he also had many talents as an artist, landscaper, painter, decorator, and handyman. He could fix anything and change trash to treasures. He was a very fast hard worker, and everything he did had to be immaculate. Sometimes we never knew where Crae was. He moved to Jackson Hole, then to Colorado, and then he was off to California to live. From snow skiing to the ocean he loved the outdoors. No matter how many times he moved, he always ended up coming back home. He had a quick wit and infectious smile. He always made the family kids laugh and they all loved him very much. He loved his rescue dog Lucy, and no matter where he would go, she would be with him even until the very end. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, LaVaun; brothers: Jeff (Jeanette) and Chris (Lani); sister, VaunaDe (Doug) Swensen; and his dog Lucy. He was preceded in death by his dad, DeVar.
The family would like to thank Jeanette Vernon and Audrey Stembridge that cared for him.
Private family services will be held at a future date.
