Connie Hansen

November 21, 1924 — December 16, 2012

Connie Jean Sparks Hansen, 88, returned peacefully to Heaven on December 16, 2012, with her family at her side.

Connie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 21, 1924, to adoring parents, Chloe Pearl Meeks and Henry Edmund Sparks. She was the baby sister to two brothers, Edmund Earl and Delmore David. Growing up in Salt Lake City, as well as spending time at her families' homestead in Dingle, Idaho, she enjoyed ice skating, sledding, tennis and swimming. After graduating from West High School, she graduated from LDS Business School before working as a secretary for Hill Air Force Base during World War II. On June 26, 1945, she and Gordon William Hansen "tied the knot" in San Francisco where Gordon promptly left for the high seas serving as a Merchant Marine. Upon his safe return, Connie and Gordon created a family and raised them in Rose Park (SLC), UT, as well as Alhambra, CA and Morgan, UT. They gave their marriage and family the promise of the eternities when they sealed their love and their family in the Salt Lake Temple in March of 1956. Connie has faithfully served as a Stake and Ward Young Womens' President and in the Primary and Relief Society organizations. In her later years, she devoted her time to genealogy and was highly instrumental in creating the dictionary for the German Extraction Program for her stake. Her motto for a happy life is "obedience brings freedom". Connie is, was, and always will be a spirit of stalwartness, faithfulness, and compassion for her family and posterity she has left behind.

Surviving are five children: Gordon Condon (Lisa) of Logan, UT; Kevin William (Cheryl) of Redlands, CA; Cory Desmond (Karen), of Moreno Valley, CA; Lisa Jean DuprAC. (GastAn) of Morgan, UT and Leslie Ann Bluemel of Henefer. She has 23 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two half sisters, Janeen Allen and Carolyn Abbott; and her niece, Bonnie Lee Carambelas.

She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Gordon, and two brothers, Earl and Del.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Morgan North Stake Chapel, 2755 W. Old Highway Road, Morgan, UT. A viewing will be held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church.

Interment, Peterson Cemetery.
