Carol Maud Nelson Hunt

November 14, 1940 — June 24, 2023

Morgan

Carol Maud Nelson Hunt, 82, passed away on June 24, 2023, surrounded by her family.  Carol was born November 14, 1940 in Redding California to Arnold and Marjorie Nelson as the younger sibling to her brother, John.  Carol grew up in Ogden Utah and graduated from Ogden High School in 1958.

Carol was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Her marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.  She found a quiet and deep sense of comfort in these aspects of her life.

Carol married Kenneth R. Hunt Jr. on Feb 6, 1959.  Their first years were spent living in various locations across the country as Ken played professional baseball.  They eventually settled in Ogden where their oldest son, Ken, and daughter, Jennifer were born.

In 1974, the family moved to Morgan, Utah where their youngest son, Adam, joined the family.  Carol deeply loved her family, taking a personal interest in the lives of each of her children.  She also had a special place in her heart for Brady Trussell who was like another son to her.  She cherished all the many life-long friendships she made in Morgan.  Carol tried hard to be a good, genuine friend to everyone.

Carol had many talents and hobbies, some of which were oil painting, drawing, quilting, and sewing. She won several awards for her artwork and quilts at various state and local art shows. She also enjoyed the outdoors and looking at maps to plan the next family camping adventure.

Carol loved books and was the librarian at Morgan High School for many years. She enjoyed interacting with teachers and students and being part of the community.

Carol was kind and thoughtful with a positive attitude and grateful heart.  She never complained.  Even during her most difficult days, she would ask the nurses and staff at Family Tree to give her updates on the friends she had there.  Somehow, despite what she was going through, she would manage to exhibit a sense of humor with her caretakers, friends, and family. She was at peace.  She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son Ken (Lisa) Hunt, son Adam (Michelle) Hunt and daughter Jennifer (Todd) Peterson, brother John Nelson, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Ken and her parents Arnold and Marjorie.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff, nurses and residents of Family Tree of Morgan and Enhabit Home Health & Hospice for all their hard work and compassion showed to Mom.  Many times, she would tell family members, “they’re all so good to me and they take such good care of me.” She genuinely loved all of you very much.  You made a difference.

“She made it.”

There will be an informal visitation for family and friends on Thursday,  July 6th, at the Morgan Stake Center (355 N 700 E, Morgan) from 10:30 to 11:45.  Funeral services will follow at the same location at 12:00.
