Carol Richins Boyce finished her earthly journey on August 4, 2024 surrounded by love. She was born to Vern Price Richins and Dorothy Wilde Richins on November 11, 1940 in Coalville, Utah. Carol and her two sisters spent their early years in Devil Slide before moving to Morgan. She attended Morgan High School where she participated in band and cheerleading. Carol went on to earn an associate degree in child development at Weber State University.
On March 11, 1961 she married Jed Gordon Nelson in Elko, Nevada. Together they celebrated in the birth of their daughter, Christine Nelson Tyrrell, and later divorced. On June 3, 1977 she married Walter Neal Boyce in Morgan, Utah. They were blessed with two girls, Jennifer Neal and Jodi Ann.
She worked at Fram for many years and then went on to help her husband run the family construction business. However, her favorite “job” was taking care of her grandchildren. When she wasn’t babysitting she was supporting them in all their activities. Her family meant everything to her. She loved her grandchildren deeply and left behind a legacy of kindness and strength.
She loved to garden and grew a vegetable garden as long as her health permitted. Shopping trips and eating out with her sisters, daughters and grandkids were her favorite pastimes. Even though she was talented at many things her children and grandchildren became her hobby and the most important part of her life.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her two favorite callings were serving in the library and being a nursery leader. She also had a deep love for family history.
Carol is survived by her husband Walter Neal Boyce; her daughter Christine Tyrrell (Steve); her daughter Jennifer Shaw (Michael); and her youngest daughter Jodi Melendez (Mauricio), in addition to her 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Vern and Dorothy Richins; and her sisters Karma Foley and Linda Spendlove.
We would like to thank the members of the Morgan 5th ward for all their compassionate service and weekly meals. A special thanks to Family Tree Assisted Living and A+ Homecare and Hospice whose exceptional care and kindness brought comfort to Carol and her family.
