Morgan

Bruce Courtenay Anderson, a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and good friend to all, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023, in his home at the age of 60.

Bruce was born to Courtenay Warren Anderson and Mary Ruth Larson Anderson on May 14, 1962, in Orange, CA. He was the fifth of eight children and loved growing up with siblings. After moving many times, the Anderson family finally settled in Sebastopol, CA. In his youth, he participated in the scouting program and obtained the rank of eagle scout, something he was always very proud of. Shortly thereafter, he graduated from Analy High School in 1980.

After his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bruce continued his education at Santa Rosa Junior College (AA), then at Cal State Fullerton (BA), and finally at Brigham Young University (MS). While attending BYU, Bruce met his future wife, Debbie. They were married for time and all eternity at the Los Angeles LDS Temple 34 years ago. Bruce and Debbie are blessed with four children and four grandchildren.

Bruce was a man of many talents, one of these talents was the ability to learn. Bruce was constantly learning how to do different projects, from computers to electrical, plumbing, and even construction. Much of this learning was before YouTube! Nothing was out of reach for Bruce to learn to do. He also crafted many furniture pieces for their home, made a success of their walnut farm, and often helped family and friends with HVAC and internet projects. One of his greatest talents was woodworking. He enjoyed using his tools and workshop to make different gifts for those he loved.

Another talent of Bruce was his ability to love one and all. He loved his family with all his heart, they were the most precious things to him. He was proud to be a dad and even happier to be a grandpa. No one was ever a stranger to Bruce. He was very friendly and became friends with everyone he met. He would chat with strangers like they were best friends.

Bruce was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He diligently served in the Jackson, Mississippi Mission from 1981-1983. It was here that he learned to love the scriptures and study the gospel.

From 2006 - 2016 Bruce and his family had the opportunity to serve at the Hill Cumorah Pageant. Bruce spent most of his time working with the internet, communication, and audio-visual. This a passion of his and something that he was very talented at. He shared these same skills with many stakes, as he worked tirelessly to enhance their internet and video broadcasting.

Bruce had a profound love of his Savior Jesus Christ. His love for God guided all his actions. Bruce loved the Lord, and his continued service to others was an example of his willingness to be a disciple of Christ. Bruce loved reading the scriptures, especially in Spanish. Listening to church and classical music helped him feel the spirit.

Bruce saw God’s hand throughout his life and especially the last 5 ½ years while he battled cancer. Despite this hard trial, he remained ever positive and optimistic. Bruce never complained and continuously expressed gratitude for the many blessings he had been given. He was grateful in every circumstance.

Bruce enjoyed serving others. Service and honesty were a hallmark of his life. He had great integrity and always sought to do what was right. He learned this trait from his parents.

His memory will be cherished and lovingly kept alive by his family.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife Debbie. Children - Kevin Anderson, Susan (Kyle) Smith, Matthew (Kaylee) Anderson, Julianna (Tyler) Mills. Grandchildren - Brennen Smith and Rosalie Mills. Siblings - Tim (Diane), Brita (Dale), Sharon (David), David (Becky), Ken (Adriane), Cameron (Jennifer), Marilynne (Clark), and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was proceeded in death by his parents Courtenay and Mary Anderson and grandchildren Warren and Sophia Smith.
