Our hearts are broken. Braxton Blake Mecham, age 19, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Morgan, Utah, on October 17, 2026. He was a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission, and had come home temporarily for a medical procedure.
Standing nearly 6'6", Braxton was impossible to miss, and his smile lit up every room he walked into. But it was who he was that people remembered. He was brilliant and gifted, and whatever he set his mind to, he mastered. Above all else, he loved music. His guitar was never far from his hands, heavy metal filled his world, and nothing made him come alive like creating music.
On his mission, Braxton became the best version of himself. Serving the people of Tennessee, he was happier than he had ever been. He loved them, and they loved him. He gave his whole heart to the work, and it showed in everything he did.
To his family and friends, he was everything. He was a devoted son, a loving brother, a cherished grandson, a beloved cousin, and a best friend. He made us laugh, he made us proud, and he made our lives bigger just by being in them. It's quieter here now without his music, but we imagine heaven's volume was just turned up to 11 with every power chord from Braxton's heavenly axe.
Braxton is survived by his parents, Blake and Brittany Mecham; his brothers, Hayden and Dayton; his sisters, Braelynn and Rylee; his grandparents, Ned and Gayla Mecham and Gary and Carol Brooks; his great-grandparents, Marlin Brooks and Vern and Ruth Gilmore; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
We love you, Braxton. Until we meet again, keep the music playing. Our family is forever, and we will hold you in our arms once more.
A viewing will take place on Sunday, October 25, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and on Monday, October 26, 2026 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Morgan Stake Center (335 North 700 East, Morgan, UT 84050). Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. on Monday with interment at the Milton Cemetery.
