Bonnie Malan

June 3, 1931 — February 7, 2012

MORGAN- Bonnie June Davis Malan passed away quietly at her home on Febrary 7, 2012, after a valiant fight with liver cancer. She was born to Rulon R. and Polly Viola Rhoghaar Davis on June 3, 1931, in Ogden, UT. Polly passed away three years later, and Bonnie was raised by an aunt and uncle, Gladys and Reed Wight, in Ogden. She attended Ogden Schools. When her father, Rulon, remarried, Bonnie went to live with Rulon and Bernice LaMont Davis in Idaho Falls, ID. There she attended Idaho Falls High School and helped with the family business. After high school graduation, she returned to Ogden to attend Weber College. Bonnie met and married her sweetheart, Ben Malan, in the Logan Temple on June 27, 1952. They lived in various locations while Ben was in the service, but after his release, they settled in Ogden where they stayed for 11 years. They moved to Morgan in 1966. Ben passed away July 11, 2006.

She was a member of the Morgan 3rd Ward, was always very active in the LDS church, serving in various stake and ward callings. Ben and Bonnie served a mission to Nigeria Africa, and also an inner-city Ogden mission. They were ward and stake missionaries for a number of years. Bonnie also loved doing genealogy, and worked with foreign extraction, and family history centers for years.

Bonnie was a talented artist, and won many and various awards over the years for her oil paintings. She worked as an illustrator for a magazine "The Children's Friend" for a number of years. Bonnie loved world travel, reading, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She was a great neighbor and friend.

She is survived by three children : Wendy (Richard) Poll, Mountain Green, UT; Corey (Shawna) Malan, Ogden, UT; Jeffrey (Simone) Malan, Kissimmee FL; 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Also a sister, Ruth Ann (Richard) Hooper, Orem, UT; brother Montie (Shawna) Davis, Boise, ID; and brother Frank (Pricilla) Davis, Orem, UT., and two very close cousins, Peg (Gary) Plyer, and Dee (Velda) Wight all of Ogden.

Friends may visit family on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm., at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan UT, and on Monday, February 13, from 10:45 to 11:45 am at the Morgan 3rd Ward, 10 W. Young Street, Morgan, UT. Funeral Services will be held at noon, at the same location.

Interment will be in the South Morgan Cemetery.
