Beulah Willoughby

She was born Jan. 2, 1912 in Hoytsville, Utah and was the youngest child of Alonzo and Elizabeth Wilkinson Winters. She married Vern Willoughby Dec. 24, 1932. Beulah was a wonderful mother and grandmother, enjoying her time with family and friends as well as music, art, reading, sewing and traveling.

As a caregiver, much of her life was dedicated to being a nurse working at hospitals in Utah and California. Her patients always appreciated her loving care.

Beulah served in many positions as a member of the LD Church including Primary and MIA President. She loved history and genealogy, spending many hours researching records of her ancestors and writing family histories. She was most proud of her pioneer heritage being a great granddaughter of Rebecca Winters. As a talented pianist able to play by ear as well as read music, Beulah performed at multiple church and social functions and was a member of several dance bands. One of her greatest lifetime achievements was forming the North Summit Senior Citizens Rhythm Band which performed for over 25 years. For her community service, Beulah received the Quiet Giant Award at the Summit County Fair in 1999 and in 2005 was presented the Summit County Silver Bowl Award by the Lieutenant Governor of Utah.

Beulah is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Lee) Rasmussen of Salt Lake City; Barbara Roemmich and Cathy (Edward) Friery of Coalville; 12 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; sons, John and Kay Willoughby; and son-in-law, Edwin Roemmich.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Wentworth in Oakley, IHC Home Health Care, Alpine Hospice, Coalville Health Care Center, Lori Wright and all the other caregivers and friends for their love and compassion for our dear mother during the past two difficult years.
