Betty Jean Dawson

Betty Jean Dawson, 84, passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 at Country Pines Assisted Living in Clinton, Utah from natural causes.

She was born May 26, 1932 in Heyburn, Idaho, the third daughter of Percy H. and Melda Heiner Smith.

Betty moved to Morgan, Utah when she was a young girl.  She attended school in Morgan County.

On Sept. 11, 1948 she married Max A. Dawson from Henefer.  A year later, Terry was born into their family.  Soon after the three of them packed up and moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan.  Max worked as a mechanic while Betty worked for Shakespear Rod and Reel and Taylor Maid Windows.  Ten years later Dawn was born.  A few years later they packed up again and moved back to Utah.  Before long a third child, Andy, was born into their family.  Over the years Betty enjoyed many activities including oil painting, reading and her grand and great grandchildren.  She was also an avid golfer and shoe shopper with her sisters.

Betty was a member of the LDS Church.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Max; daughter, Dawn Carter; brothers, Verl and Jay Smith and her sister LaRae Baird.

She is survived by her daughter, Terry (Corky) Sweet; son, Andy (Joy Lyn) Dawson; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and two sisters, Phyllis Peterson and LueCree Carrigan.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Morgan 6th Ward Chapel, 2700 South Morgan Valley Drive, Porterville.  Friends and family may call at the Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, Utah on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the church from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be in the Henefer Cemetery.
