Elizabeth Irene Rollins Wilde "Betty" 1923-2007

Coalville a" Elizabeth Irene "Betty" Rollins Wilde, 84, passed away July 12, 2007 in Oakley, Utah.

Born January 13, 1923, in Ogden, Utah, Betty was the second child of William Rollins and Hendrika Kruitmoes, and she was very proud of her Dutch heritage. At the age of eight she joined the family of Hugh and May McQueen in Hoytsville, Utah when her mother became terminally ill.

She graduated from North Summit High School in the spring of 1941. Married to the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Wilde, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 27, 1941, and they made their home in Coalville, Utah. This marriage later ended in divorce.

Betty was a member of the LDS church and served in various positions for the Coalville 1st and Hoytsville Wards. She was a care giver to her aging in-laws, Ella and Heber Wilde, and others in the community. Good friends and family members returned the favor when she needed them.

Among Betty's pleasures were her home and yard, raising African Violets, car rides - especially around Mirror Lake, card games with "the girls" - Blanch, Eleanor, Lorraine and others, visits to swap meets with her sister Helen, special holidays when the family gathered at her home, and watching the Utah Jazz basketball games. She especially enjoyed taking tours with the Senior Citizens, their celebrations and weekly get-togethers, and was honored to be a part of such a wonderful organization.

She was a mother and wife, helped on the family farm, worked part-time at Judy Beard's Notions store, then became a single mother and was employed full-time at the Summit Mercantile. She retired in 1993.

Betty outlived her parents, brothers Bill and Lee Rollins, and sister Helen Woolsey, as well as her uncle and aunt, Hugh and May McQueen, and her special cousins, Merrald, Earl and Lloyd McQueen. She is survived by her sons Glenn (Anne) Wilde of St. George, and Douglas (Robin) of Coalville; six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

The family would especially like to thank Merrald and Nadene McQueen for the lifelong love and support shown to Betty, the dedicated staff of the Wentworth at Oakley who cared for her during her last years, and the special care of Hospice.

Betty's last years were marred by Alzheimer's which often made her world sad, confusing and frightening. Mom, rest in peace, your struggle has ended.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Utah Alzheimer Association, 845 E. 4800 S., Ste 120, SLC, UT 84107.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Coalville Stake Center. Friends may pay their final respects at Walker Mortuary in Coalville from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday or from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Interment will be at the Coalville City Cemetery.
