Washington Terrace - Benjamin Demo Harvey passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. He was born on November 10, 1928 to James and Lucille Harvey in Ogden. He married Illa Whipple on January 12, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have 4 children, 27 grandchildren, and 41 great grandchildren. He retired from Hill Field Air Force Base after 37 years. Ben served in the Navy Reserves for 6 years.

Ben was an active member of the LDS Church. He served in many callings. He and his wife served a LDS Mission at Ogden Cannery and as temple workers in the Ogden Temple.

Ben enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing in their lives. He loved nature and being outdoors. He especially enjoyed boating. He loved gardening, golfing, and traveling. During his lifetime he traveled to 48 states and over 20 countries. He also loved wood working and made many birdhouses.

Ben was greatly loved and will always be remembered by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife Illa, his children Susan Freeze (Clifford) of Salt Lake, Robert Harvey (Cathy) of Morgan, Deborah Goates (Kenneth) of Henderson, Nevada, Stephen Harvey (Shelly) of Syracuse; 27 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and his 2 sisters Katherine Barker of North Ogden, Charlotte Layton of Windham, Maine. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Afton Blanc; and grandson.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11 am at the Washington Terrace 5th Ward Chapel, 350 West 5100 South, Washington Terrace. Friends and family may attend a viewing Monday from 6 to 8 at the church in Washington Terrace and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 am, also at the church.

Interment will be at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
