Belvon Blonquist

COALVILLE a�" Belvon G. Blonquist, 88, passed away at home on January 15, 2013 surrounded by his family. Belvon was born May 20, 1924 at Hoytsville, Summit County, Utah to George Gustave Blonquist and Ethel Winters. He was raised in Upton, Utah, and spent as much time as possible working and enjoying life at the Blonquist family ranch, located about ten miles east of Coalville. Belvon served in the United States Army during the occupation of Germany at the end of WWII.

He married the love of his life, Peggy Geraldine Hall Wright, on July 3, 1957 at Park City, Utah. After their marriage, they moved to Coalville, where they lived the rest of their lives.

Belvon was the Supervisor of Summit County Roads for many years. He often spoke of plowing the snow at Summit Park and fighting wild fires throughout the county. Before retiring, he worked for Geary Construction Company. After retirement, he was able to work full-time at the Blonquist Ranch with his brother and best friend, Keith. Belvon's greatest happiness was his time spent with his wife and his immediate and extended family at the ranch. Belvon is survived by his brothers: Lawrence, Bountiful; Keith (Carol), Upton; Veleen (Ivan) Scovil, Springville; children: Gordon (Susan) Wright, West Jordan; Tonja (Howdy) Hanson, Kamas; son-in-law, Roger Whitney, West Valley City; grandchildren: Cade Whitney, Cassidee (Nuu) Iva, Cara Whitney, Alyssa Tia Hanson; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Peggy, and his daughter, Peggy Dee Whitney.

Belvon will be remembered as a hard-working man who loved is family. He was a wonderful storyteller with a great sense of humor, honest, a faithful friend and loving father. He loved working and spending time on the family ranch, riding bucking horses, hunting, and operating heavy equipment. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

There will be a viewing at the Coalville Stake Center, 40 N Main Street, Sunday, January 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be at the same location, Monday, January 21, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
