Arvin Victor Moore, 77, was born July 22, 1948 in Coalville, Summit, Utah to Edward Victor and Ellen Juanita Staples Moore. Arvin passed away at Castleview Hospital, in Price, on September 2, 2025. He was brother to Sheldon, Arlene, Ileane and Doris. Arvin grew up on the family farm in Upton. He graduated from North Summit High School and also attended The Salt Lake Community College. On Dec. 10, 1976 he married (later divorced) Mary Jane Hamilton in the Salt Lake Temple. They were parents to several foster children.
While they resided in Coalville, he worked for the North Summit School District as school custodian. He also worked with Cliff Rees in constructing the new Upton Church and other buildings. He and Mary Jane bought the old Morby store on Main Street and remodeled it into a grocery store. Arvin had worked earlier for Paul Barber in his store, Barber’s Variety Store, which helped spark the dream.
After several years, he moved back to Upton to run the farm on Huff Creek Road. Upon his retirement he bought a house in Helper, Utah. He lived there until his health took a turn for the worst and was a family member of the Good Life Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility in Price, Utah.
During his lifetime, he endured many health challenges including Covid. Despite all he endured, he remained friendly to all he met. He also loved animals, including the cats that ran around the neighborhood and he called them all his pets. He often mentioned how much he enjoyed hearing the trains as they traveled past his Helper home.
He leaves behind his siblings, Arlene O’Driscoll, Evanston, Wyoming; Ileane Taylor, Kamas, Utah, and Doris (Ernie) Prettyman, Helper, Utah and many nieces and nephews. Also he leaves behind his foster daughter, Christine Boone, Stansbury Park, Utah, Chris’s daughter and husband, Garret and Jessica Sutherland with his great grandchildren, Olivia, Julia, and Kenneth which he was so proud of.
Those who preceded him in death are his parents, his brother Sheldon and his wife, Sharmeen, of Logan, Two brother-in-laws, Earl O’Driscoll and Randall Taylor. Also one nephew David Taylor and a niece, Jill O’Driscoll.
We are so appreciative of his friends that helped him through the years, especially Roger Rasmussen, Matthew Zalany, Dale Chappell, Harold Jones(deceased), and Timothy Harner. They have been a wonderful help to him through the years. He appreciated all who cared for him with gifts of food, visits, and especially for the love he felt from all his family and friends.
We also would like to thank Good Life Assisted Living for their kindness for the last 5 months of his life. Alyse, Heaven, and Terri, as well as many others have helped so much in the care of Arvin in his final days (as well as comforting Doris in her loss as she has cared for him the last several years).
