On May 5th, 2026, our beautiful, beloved mother, grandma, sister, daughter, and best friend left this earth, leaving it a sadder place. Time completely stopped for us who loved her, and our lives were changed forever. She was at home with her mother, Lola J. Grower, and her first granddaughter, Aaniyah Lola Marie, when she suddenly and unexpectedly passed.
Born on September 23rd, 1965, in Morgan, Utah, to Lola J. Grower (Ezell) and Jack Ezell, she was one of eight children. Raised in Porterville, Utah, she attended school in the Morgan schools, from elementary through high school, where she met her first love, Scott Crouch. They later married and had a son together, Skyler C. Crouch (later divorced). She then married Darrell Cottrell and had two children, Tylee E. Cottrell and Aasin J. M. Cottrell (later divorced). The love and dedication to her family, especially her children, was unmatched. Our mother was fierce, the definition of selfless love and strength. She would move mountains and break the earth for those she loved.
She was very accomplished in her life and took great pride in her education and career, starting with certificates in pharmacology and medical assisting. Although she wasn't able to obtain her degree and graduate, it's just another example of how selfless she was when it came to her children. She sacrificed her education and put her dreams on hold to ensure her family was taken care of. When she became a grandmother, it was truly one of the biggest blessings in the world to her. The joy all seven of her grandchildren brought her was insurmountable. Nothing made her happier. The love she had for them, and the love they all had for her in return, was absolutely beautiful. Not many get to experience a love so pure and so real, but our mother made sure we felt every second.
She loved to laugh and smile with her family any chance she had to be with us. She really made every moment count. If Mom/Grandma was coming, everyone knew memories were about to be made. There was nothing she wouldn't do for anyone in her family. She was always more than willing and happy to help everyone out, especially in times of need. She always went above and beyond to take care of everything, and if she couldn't figure it out right away, she always found a way to make it happen. Jaydin and Austin Crouch, Dadrian Burleson, Aaniyah, Zuri, and Chosynn Garden, and Kayzen Cottrell were the center of her world. Everything she did was for them. She was not only their grandma but also their best friend.
Our Mama loved to create, whether it was working on a new hobby or painting something absolutely beautiful. She would spend hours working on little details for it to turn out amazing, and then she'd scrap a work of art just to start all over again. She'd repeat her process until every paint stroke was where she wanted it to be. She always drew from her mind, and it was extraordinary to witness someone with such creativity, passion, and love. She absolutely loved the summer and spring. It was her time to get outside and into the yard, gardening and creating beautiful landscapes for her mother to enjoy. Our mother was a creator; she grew beautiful flowers, berries, sweet peas, and other herbs in her little garden. She loved going out to harvest what she had grown with the kids. When they were with Grandma, they always had healthy garden munchies to snack on. To relax, she loved jumping into a warm, cozy bed with her granddaughter Aaniyah, snuggling up for a good movie like her favorite, 'Love Switch' and 'Lethal Weapon', just before bed.
Our Mama loved to laugh and tell jokes; usually, she was laughing too hard to even tell it, but that was part of the fun. Her laugh and smile could warm the coldest of nights. Her voice was like a stronghold; it carried, and every word she spoke was strong and bold. She was a woman who always stood up for what she believed in and never backed down from what was right. She had a way of bringing such comfort in the worst moments; she would just hold you, and everything in her voice and touch said, "Things are going to be all right. "It's fitting that one of her favorite sayings from Beauty and the Beast was on her walls in Henefer, as well as painted countless times: "Cheer up, child! It'll all be all right in the end; you'll see." I know she'd want us to remember that right now, no matter how hard.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Ezell, and her brother, Lorin Ezell, and niece Destiny Naylor. She is survived by her mother, Lola J. Grower; her siblings, Jack and Helen Ezell, Dana Pentz, Shelly Pentz, Linda Packard, Lisa and Ward Jones, and Shirlene McQuiddy; her children, Skyler Chase Crouch, Tylee Elizabeth Cottrell, and Aasin Jack McAll Cottrell; her grandchildren, Jaydin and Austin Crouch, Dadrian Burleson, Aaniyah, Zuri, and Chosynn Garden, and Kayzen Cottrell; as well as her many nieces and nephews who all loved and looked up to their aunt Anita Marie.
She had a monumental impact on everyone blessed and fortunate to know her or call her a friend. If you loved her, you're one of the few in the world who will ever experience a love so pure and so true. We will miss you forever, Mama. We will see you again one day; until then, rest, our sweet angel.
