Alma “Tarz” Blonquist, 92 of Coalville Utah, passed away on June 2, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. Alma was born on July 28, 1933 to Clifton and Kathleen Robinson Blonquist. He was the oldest of 5 kids. He grew up loving to fish with his friends, set up camp, and hunt anything that moved.
He married Janet Dean Rees on September 28, 1957. They welcomed 3 beautiful daughters: Leslie, Shellie, and Melissa. Alma worked for Geary Construction for 58 years before retiring at age 77. During that time and still to this day he is revered as one of the best road grader and crane operators ever! He made a lot of life long friends during those years. Anyone who knows him knows that he is full of jokes, pranks, and never ending stories.
He partnered with his brother Sam to create Blonquist Brothers Sheep. Him and Janet had a small herd of Purebred Rambouillet ewes, and top quality range rams that they sold at various sales in Utah and Colorado. Alma always gave the credit to his wife for feeding the sheep so well, and always said, “Don’t make a bale heavier than your wife can carry.”
He is survived by his wife, Janet, and their children: Leslie (Perry) Pace, Shellie (Jim) Keetch, and Melissa Blonquist. Brothers Cliff (Carol Joy) Blonquist, Earl (JaNae) Blonquist, and sister Joan Burton. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren that brought him much joy.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Clifton and Kathleen Blonquist, his sister Enid, and brother- in -law Keith Wilde.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11 am at the Coalville Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special Thanks to Jeanette Vernon and the Coalville Health Center for their many years of care. We would also like to Thank Elsie Ercanbrack, Rory Duncan , and all the staff at Quality Home Health for taking such loving care of dad.
As Dad said right up until the very end, “Be Careful, and always keep it on the right side!"
