Morgan

Allen Leroy Porter, 70, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Treeo Independent Living Center in South Ogden, Utah.

Allen was born November 24, 1952 in Ogden, Utah to Harvey J. Porter and Faye Nielsen Porter. He was raised in Devil’s Slide, Utah and lived most of his life in Morgan and Henefer. He was a Morgan High School graduate. Allen served stateside in the US Army in the early 1970s and was stationed at Fort Lewis Military Base in McChord, Washington until 1974. Later in his life, Allen had the privilege to receive his endowments at the Ogden LDS Temple and found much comfort and solace in the Gospel."

Allen was employed by Morgan City for nearly 40 years and took great satisfaction in his work for the Public Works Department. He spoke highly of his workmates and enjoyed the comradery he found with those he worked alongside at the City.

Allen very much enjoyed the outdoors and was always eager to spend his time camping, fishing, hunting, or just taking in the beauty surrounding him in Morgan Valley. He was an avid supporter of Morgan High School sporting events and took great pride in cheering on the home team whenever there was a big game.

After retirement, Allen volunteered his time with the Morgan School District as a crossing guard where he found purpose and joy interacting with and helping the children on their way to and from school.

Perhaps Allen’s greatest source of pride were his two grandchildren, Henry and Reese, whom he absolutely adored. He loved nothing more than receiving the latest updates about their young lives and their accomplishments and was known to eagerly share the news with friends and family. He enjoyed attending their sporting events and extracurricular activities to support and cheer them on.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents and three of his siblings, Barbara (Dale) Mountz, Peggy (Warren) Jones, and Donna Porter. He is survived by his brother Larry (Nancy) Porter, his son, Jeremy (Jennifer) Glass, two grandchildren, Henry and Reese Glass, and many nieces and nephews.

Many thanks to the staff at Treeo Independent Living Center for their love and care throughout the last years of Allen’s life.
