Imagine the sweet reunion as the last of the Louder boys passed through the veil to join his parents, four brothers and sister. Raymond M Louder, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 5, 2021 in Morgan, Utah.
He was born February 4, 1934 in Woodland, Summit, Utah, and was the third son of James Louis and Ruby Janett Mitchell Louder. The following spring, Jim moved their two-room house, on skids, to Kamas, Utah. At age seven, Raymond began helping his dad cut timber in the Soapstone area of the Uintah Mountains near their home. This became his favorite place, and he spent many years felling trees and cutting wood with his dad, brothers, and later with his son, Jeff, and grandsons. In 1959, he and his brothers cleared a 7.6-mile stretch of land for the Mirror Lake Highway.
Raymond was a good basketball player. At six feet three inches, he played the center position for South Summit High School for three years and was in the starting lineup at Snow College with his cousins, Arden and Dee Louder. He also attended Brigham Young University.
During his senior year of high school, Raymond and his buddies drove his 1941 Plymouth to A&V Lunch in Coalville. That’s where he first met Dorothy Huffman. He remembered thinking, “That’s my girl.” His premonition proved true, and they were married 2 ½ years later in the Salt Lake Temple on June 2, 1954. He was a very loving husband to Dorothy and a wonderful father to their five children.
Raymond always provided for his family. He worked as a manager for Grand Central Stores, owned and operated Raymond’s House of Meats, and drove a school bus for North Summit school district.
Raymond loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and served as Bishop of the Coalville 2nd Ward and counselor in the Summit Stake Presidency. He remained an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and exemplified a life of dedicated service.
Raymond grew a large garden and enjoyed sharing his harvest with family, neighbors, and those he ministered to.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ruby Louder, his brothers Boyd (Sarah Jo), Jerry (Doris), Elgin (Pat), Myrl (Vera) and his sister, Bonnie (Alden) Padfield, and daughter-in-law Cathy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, and their five children, Diane (Robert) Ogden, Jeffrey Ray (Shanna), Carolyn (Curtis) Laser, Jennifer (Wade) Homer, and Lorilee (Travis) Bowen, 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Wain Allen, Jeanette Vernon, Corey Ann Blonquist, Stephanie Morris and the Family Tree staff for Raymond’s excellent care.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in the Coalville Stake Center, 40 N Main Street. A viewing will be held prior to services from 11:00-12:30 at the church.
