Hoytsville

Donna Ruth Borner 91, passed away on March 14, 2022, at Family Tree Assisted Living in Morgan Utah.  She was a devoted wife, kind mother and a very proud grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Donna was born in Chillhowie, Missouri at her grandparents’ home to Geneva Ruth Burgard and Don Duane Robbins in 1930 during the depression. Times were tough and she quickly learned to be thrifty and make do.  She was older sister to one brother, Duane.  They spent time playing simple games like hide and seek and kick the can. She learned to play the bird whistle in a school band and loved to roller skate on portable rinks. Her family remained in Missouri until 1942 when they moved to San Diego.

Donna was the hard-working mother of 3 rowdy boys, Michael(Josephine), Dennis(Vickie) and Lance.  She showed no fear when stepping in between two sons amid a brawl. Donna tried to teach her sons to love life, have a sense of humor and look for the positive side.  They spent time at lots of sporting events, on hunting trips and desert camping.  She had many interesting jobs including working for the San Diego Padres who took her to Hawaii.  Her favorite job was secretary for a private school in Idyllwild, CA. But nothing was more treasured than being a mother and grandmother.  Her legacy lives on in her sons Michael and Dennis,  2 kind and loving daughters-in-law, 8 grandkids, 19 great grandkids and 9 great-great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her son Lance.

She enjoyed gardening as showcased by her beautiful yard on Chalk Creek Road. She loved watching and identifying birds in her yard.  Donna had many artistic pursuits including painting, stitchery, sewing, quilting even winning several awards at the County and State Fairs.  She loved teaching grandkids her craft talents and enjoyment of reading, being an avid reader herself.  She was a very spiritual women and attended the Baptist Church in Coalville.  She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life in her honor will be held Saturday March 19, 2022 from 4-6pm at Denise’s Home Plate located at 49 N Main St., Coalville. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to one of Donna’s favorite charities; Samaritan’s Purse, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project.
