Sherman B. Toone 84, passed away peacefully at his home on November 25, 2017. He was born and raised in Croydon, Utah on September 30, 1933 as a twin to Newton Amos, and June Brooks Toone.
Sherm married Myra Hooper on August 11, 1952 and later solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on December 11, 1957. They were married 28 years and had 5 children before Myra passed away on February 9, 1980.
He later married Alma Dungan on September 3, 1980, and had 3 step daughters from this marriage.
Sherm loved camping, hunting, fishing, taking care of his horses, being up Pine Canyon, and doing anything outdoors. He liked taking lots of pictures and enjoyed life. He loved to sit around a campfire with family and friends laughing and telling stories. His “AA” family were special to him, and he dedicated many years to helping others in need, and hosting the AA cookouts.
He loved his small community of friends and neighbors, and worked over 45 years nearby at Holnam Incorporated (now known as Holcim). He was proud to have started working there with his dad, and helping the business grow. He enjoyed retirement close to home and in the mountains with his horses, camping, or cutting firewood.
Sherm is survived by his children, Gary (Marlene) Toone, Tamra Lott, Troy Toone, and Jenefir (Brian) Durrant, a daughter in law Debra Toone Lee, step children Teri Charest, Betsi (Jamey) Magee, and Toni (Larry) Rogosh, along with 22 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son Bradley Toone, twin brother Norman, sister JoAnn, wife Myra, wife Almie, his parents, grandparents, 1 grandson, and 2 great grandsons.
The family would like to thank the many people who helped care for Sherm over the past few years including Manor Care of South Ogden.
Services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 12 noon at the Morgan Stake Center. A visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the services.
Interment will be at the Croydon Cemetery.
