Randy Ovard

July 13, 1945 — September 22, 2018

Henefer

Randy C. Ovard started his life’s journey on July 13, 1945. He was the first child born to Carl Thomas Ovard and Kathleen Durrant.  Randy’s earthly journey ended on September 22, 2018 surrounded by his family who loved him with all their heart. He never lost his sense of humor as he fought hard battling cancer, always showing love and concern for his nurses and those that took care of him.

Randy Married the love of his life, the cute girl he met in 7th grade, Rebecca Rees on October 7, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They did everything together setting the example of what True love is.  Becky never left his side and served his every need until he was greeted by his loved ones on the other side.

Randy owned Grumps and Dairy Tank Company, where he worked hard providing for his family.  He was also known as the “candy man” to all the kids in town.  Dad gave all he had to those in need, but most of all he gave his time.

Randy had a love for the Savior and knew him well. He also spent his life in the service others. Service was the most important thing to him. Randy had a strong testimony of the gospel and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in the Bishopric as Counselor and as Bishop, he was Branch President of the Summit County Justice system.  He served as a Missionary at Welfare Square and worked in the Ogden Temple. Randy served in the East Central States mission touching the lives of many by teaching the gospel.  He always had a way of teaching with love.  Randy served in the US Air Force as a Medic and was very humble when he spoke of his service.  He volunteered with North Summit Ambulance helping the community for 28 years, and served as a member of the North Summit school board.  Randy loved Henefer and served as Mayor for 12 years.

What Randy was most proud of was his family, sharing all his children’s accomplishments with all he came in contact with.  His Children, Michelle (Shane) Andersen, Tricia (Dave) Smith, Jill (Chava) Segura, Casey (RoxAnn) Ovard, Amber (Jared) Caughlan, Sheri (Justin) Hemingway, Regi (Adam) Patch, Akira (Yuko) Akaguma. 28 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren will miss him greatly.  He danced with his “Babes” in the kitchen and taught all his kids his famous dance moves.   His greatest lesson he taught was the most important things in life are not things, people are the most important.  He had a gift of always making everyone feel special.

ALWAYS FOREVER… AND MORE
