Maye Francis

May 30, 1922 — April 23, 2019

Morgan

Maye Francis passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the age of 96. She was born May 30, 1922 to Charles W and Nina Porter Tonks in Round Valley, Utah. She attended schools in Morgan and graduated from Morgan High School. During  World War  II she worked at the Ogden Arsenal.  She married Rulon Francis on September 4, 1943. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.   She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving in the Primary where she served faithfully for many years.

In addition to being a homemaker she also worked at the Morgan Theater (Now the Spring Chicken Inn) and late in life when most people would be content to just relax, she worked at Jay’s Drive Inn where she was a mentor to the young girls working there. Her hobbies and interest included bowling (until she was 86), reading, crocheting, embroidery, making  afghans for her children and grandchildren, gardening, and attending plays with the senior citizens.  Most of all she loved and enjoyed the time she spent with her family. She was remarkable in that she NEVER forgot a birthday.

Maye is survived by two daughters and two sons.  Linda Francis, Clearfield, Janice (Steve) Nielsen, Mark (Lana) Francis, Kent (Pam) Francis all of Morgan. Also a brother -in -law, Gerald Durrant and a Sister-in-law Masie Whitaker. Nine grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two sisters, Ila Cottrell, Deone Durrant and Ray Whitaker a cousin, raised as a brother and a great granddaughter, Olivia Maye Francis.
