Landon Sparks

December 27, 1988 — August 15, 2017

Our sweet son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and friend to many, Landon James Sparks, passed away unexpectedly August 15, 2017.

Landon was born December 27, 1988, in Ogden, Utah.  He soon became the youngest of a family of five children to the proud parents of Owen and Lisa Thompson.

Landon grew up in West Haven where he attended Fremont High School and graduated in 2007.  He later attended the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology Center studying to be an apprentice electrician.  He recently enrolled to complete his Journeyman Electrician certification.

Landon learned the value of working at a young age.  At 15 years old he would peddle his bike to work and return home feeling accomplished.  After the excitement of earning his first pay check, he went on to work for local electrical companies.  Landon spent time working for Hill Air Force Base and took pride in everything he did.  He later returned to Patriot Electric where he is presently employed.  He loved the work he did and was very meticulous on every job.

Landon enjoyed the outdoors to the fullest.  He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, camping “Good Morning Campers”, boating, snowmobiling and snowboarding with family and friends.  There was nothing that compared to his need for speed on his 4-wheelers.  He always looked forward to the many trips to the sand dunes to conquer Sand Mountain with the fastest, loudest and most polished machines.

Landon started hunting with his dad at a young age.  He learned all the tricks of the trade and filled his home with prideful trophies.  He yearned for that one big buck and was successful in the fall of 2016.

On July 12, 2014, he married the love of his life, Ashley Jane Sommers.  Together they built their foundation of love as they welcomed Harper Jane into their lives in September 2016.  Landon’s love for his two sweethearts was undeniable and he will always be their guardian angel.

Landon had a contagious personality and an infectious smile.  He was loved by all, young and old.  His nieces and nephews always looked forward to a good wrestling match with Uncle Lando.  In addition to his never ending devotion to his family, Landon was always finding ways to touch the lives of others, lend a helping hand, and eager to make new life long friends.  He always left his footprint on your heart.

Landon is survived by his wife, Ashley Jane Sparks; daughter, Harper Jane; parents, Owen and Lisa Thompson; brothers, Skyler (Jacque) Sparks, Jayce (Trista) Sparks, Cody (Jessica) Thompson; sister, Lacie (Chase) Nielsen; father and mother-in-law, Matt and Nicole Sommers; brother and sister-in-law, Cameron and Alexis Jones; grandparents, Rex W. Thompson, Marcia (Rex) Bailey, Cole and Lana Porter, Don and Nadine Bambrough; Jim and Bernice Sparks and many aunts, uncles cousins, nieces, nephews and his best friend, Bobby Della Lucia.

Landon was preceded in death by his grandma, LuJean Thompson; grandpa, Dick Sommers; grandpa, Garth Christensen; uncles, Gary Sparks and Darrin Hansen, and a few close friends he made throughout the years.
