January 12, 1925 — December 21, 2017

MORGAN – Fredrick Robert Kippen, age 92, returned to his Father in Heaven on December 21, 2017 in Morgan, Utah with family surrounding him.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1925 in Porterville, Utah to Charles Robert and Maggie Tonks Kippen.  He grew up in Porterville, Utah and left for World War II on Sept 18, 1944, leaving the farm after hauling hay and returned with an honorable discharge on Sept. 1, 1946.  Fred came home, changed clothes and returned to the field he left two years earlier.  In his younger years he loved playing baseball with the Porterville team, winning several championships.

Fred spent his life time on his family farm raising cattle and sheep but the fun time was raising cabbage and taking them to the Krout factory in Morgan.  Fred and his family continued on raising sheep with his brothers until 1992 when they sold the sheep.  He continued farming alfalfa hay in his remaining years, finally retiring in 2005 to go fishing full time.  He spent most of his retired time at Buckboard Marina at Flaming George and participated in the fishing derby, always collecting his prize for the “oldest fisherman there”.

Fred had the pleasure of going on the Honor Flight in 2015 accompanied with his son, Calvin and other World War II veterans to the Washington DC World War II Memorial.

Fred married Rosemond Nicholas in 1950 and to this marriage was born a baby boy, Bud (deceased), Calvin (Margaret), Alvin, (Pam), Norm (Susan), Myron (Cornelie) and Stanley (Lisa).  Fred later married Helene McDonald and brought into that union two girls, LuAnn (Marty) Lee and Jo (Art) Satterlee.  Helene passed away in Dec. 1996.  On Nov. 18, 2006 he married Gail Lord, his loving and devoted companion.

Surviving are his wife, Gail; his children; 33 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; three sisters, Colleen Berg, Neeta Nelson and Leeta Shisler; a sister-in-law, Connie Kippen; and two nephews Brent and Evan (Sarah) Kippen; a niece, Angie (Dave) Rich; step children, Richard (Tonya) Lynn, Penny (Dee) Loertscher, Julee Lynn (Randy) Womack, Cindee (Lance) Mikesell; grandchildren, Tyson, Jennifer, Brayden, Kenzee, Parker, Bailee Jo, Hunter and Rylee Jo.

Fred was preceded in death by siblings, Marion Porter, Lucille Nelson, Darrell Kippen, LaRue Mortenson,  Leland Kippen and his baby brother, Dee Kippen.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Porterville church, 2700 South Morgan Valley Drive, Morgan, UT.  A viewing will be held Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, UT and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
