Cheryl Sanders

February 25, 1955 — October 9, 2017

Cheryl Davies Sanders passed away peacefully at home October 9, 2017. She was born February 25, 1955 in Preston Idaho, the fourth child of Jacob and Gwen Davies.  Her early childhood was spent in Boise, Idaho until her family moved to Utah.  She attended school in Roy, graduating from Roy High in 1973.

She married Bruce Sanders on October 4,1974 in the Ogden LDS Temple.  They made their home in Riverdale and became the proud parents of six children. At Bruce’s retirement they decided to move to Morgan. They combined Bruce’s building expertise with Cheryl’s keen eye for color and detail and succeeded in creating a beautiful home which became a gathering place for friends and family.

She held a variety of church callings during her life.  She spent time serving in Primary and Relief Society.  She especially enjoyed working with the youth during her time in the Young Women’s organization and as a Sunday School teacher for the combined youth of her ward. She also served for 18 months with her husband in the Arcadia California Mission.

Cheryl was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice.  While in high school she was in both Royal and Chamber Choirs and went on to sing with Weber State Singers during college. She had many fond memories of her time in Weber State Singers and never lost her love of singing. She willingly performed whenever she could and used her talents to enrich many Sacrament Meetings and other occasions as well.  She sang frequently at funerals and considered it an honor to be asked.

Cheryl had a bright smile and a ready laugh. If there was something fun happening she wanted to be a part of it.  And if nothing fun was happening she would create something. She enjoyed being around people and was outgoing and friendly. She could stand by a stranger in a checkout line and come away with a friend. She had a wicked sense of humor and enjoyed making other people laugh, especially if she could shock them a little while doing it. She had a reputation among her nieces and nephews of being the life of the party and will be missed at family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother Dennis Davies.  She is survived by her children Angela (Gary) Hunsaker, Brian (Cami) Sanders, Jeff (Andee) Sanders, Hilary (Dustin) Wood, Valerie Sanders, and Tara Lynn Oliver and 17 grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters Diane (Jerry) Burnett, Julie (Mike) Hein, and Annette (Gary) Olsen.
