Marjorie Crittenden

July 29, 1924 — February 23, 2018

"Together Again"

Hoytsville, Utah. Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother and dear friend to all passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on February 23, 2018 at the age of 93.

Marjorie was born to Elmer Blonquist and Ina Garn Blonquist in Hoytsville, Utah on July 29, 1924.  She was the oldest of two children, and was raised in the Coalville area.  Her husband Kay Crittenden, daughter Gayle Crittenden Swensen, parents, sister in-law Fern Crittenden, and brother in-law Lloyd Crittenden preceded her in death.  Marjorie married Kay Crittenden on June 25, 1942. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Survived by sons Spencer K. Crittenden (Rolane) and Scott Chauncey Crittenden (LoDell), as well as sister Karol Foust, brother in-law Edmund Crittenden (Joanne) and son in-law Robert Swensen (Gayle), sister in-law Betty Crittenden (Lloyd), grandchildren Janalee Swensen Potter (Rick), Kacey Swensen Bates (Dan), Tarra Shalise Crittenden, Matthew Chauncey Crittenden (Robin), many great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mom enjoyed taking care of dad.  There was not a morning that Dad went to work without of full belly and a full lunch box.  Mom loved the fishing and camping outings they shared together in their retirement years. Seldom was there a Monday they were not leaving for another adventure somewhere to fish or hunt antiques.  Mom loved to knit, crochet afghans, and support the Braves for multiple generations.  She was honored to become a “Brave to the Bone” recipient with pride.

Mom worked hard all her life until she could not.  She loved working at Morby’s, the Summit, and multiple banks including First Interstate and Zions Bank. She loved meeting and talking to people and was considered to be an integral part of the community.

We would like to thank the community for their support and sincere love.  We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Encompass and the staff who cared for mom. We would especially like to thank Jeanette Vernon for her deep compassion for mom as well as Cory for all the patching up she did. (We’re getting there.)  We would also like to thank the individuals at Caring Hearts for the in-home care that was provided.

Funeral services will be held at the Hoytsville Church on Wednesday February 28, at 12:00 PM.  A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Hoytsville Church and from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the services.

Interment will be in the Hoytsville Cemetery.
