Welcome to the memorial page for

Joseph Jenkins

October 31, 1918 ~ August 24, 2017 (age 98)

Joseph Franklin Jenkins, 98, passed away August 24, 2017 in Morgan, Utah.

He was born on Halloween day Oct. 31, 1918 in Arcadia, UT to Junius Paxman and Sylvia Murdock Jenkins.  He always said he was born on Halloween to scare his ma.

On Nov. 18, 1939 he married, Belva Miles, in Coalville, Utah.  They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Belva was the love of his life and put up with him for almost 79 years.

Joe owned and operated the Summit Cleaners for many years and retired from Utelite and Stein Erickson Lodge. He coached little league football, baseball and track.  He helped with the timing clocks and other various activities at the school and never missed a game in 40 years for football and basketball.  He received the Brave to the Bone (Chief Brave Spirit) award from North Summit High School and the 2A Super Fan of the Year from Utah High School Activities Association. Joe was an accomplished woodworker, a big tease, a drinker of Dr. Pepper, and maker of puffed rice balls.

Joe was an Eagle Scout and a veteran of World War II.  He provided Christ like service throughout his life loving and caring for everyone he came in contact with unless… you were an official.  Each one his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were convinced they were his favorite.   Joe made friends wherever he went in this world.  There is always a smile when you think of Joe.

Surviving are his wife, Belva; two sons, Steve (Roma) and J. Van (Marsha); one daughter, Susan (Kelly) Atkinson; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren with two on the way. Also surviving is one brother, Terry (Irene) Jenkins.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Jim and Denny; two grandchildren, Gary and Staci Jo; three brothers, Floyd, Lars, and Don; and two sisters, Deon Cory and Marva Neiderhauser.
