JoAnn Paul Knowles

March 12, 1932 ~ March 28, 2018 (age 86)

Our precious mother and dear wife, JoAnn Paul Knowles, returned to her heavenly home to receive her next assignments after serving her family for more than 60 years. She was born on March 12, 1932 in Salt Lake as an only child to Mildred Kynaston and William Ferdinand Paul and passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in Logan, Utah.  She was a joy to her parents.

She married Ariel Croft Knowles in July of 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. She treasured the opportunity to be a diligent wife and spent many hours supporting him in his career as an engineer at Hill Air Force Base. Some of her hobbies included: reading early LDS church history, genealogy, sewing, singing, playing the piano, participating in and planning activities for Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She served in responsibilities as teacher, Relief Society President, and missionary. She searched for her ancestors tirelessly and worked with her mother and children in this endeavor, also creating personal histories for the family.  She served as a Legal Administrative Assistant in her career.

JoAnn’s quality of sensitivity to others’ needs permeated her nurturing of five children—Lynette, Steven, Janet, Duane, and Kyle—to adulthood. She taught each child to work hard, and she valued their contributions to home and community life. JoAnn loved and served her family and cherished a visit from any of her 22 grandchildren. They spoke of her home as “the happiest place on earth.”

JoAnn practiced the art of kindness and love for everyone. She was always kind and practiced unconditional compassion and understanding for all. She instilled in her own family and others her burning testimony and her love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

JoAnn’s positivity was a guiding principle for her and continues to bless family and friends.  Her pleasant smile and cheerful disposition brought joy and created anticipation daily as family members listened to her goals and objectives. This characteristic, and her enthusiasm, blessed her family with hope.

JoAnn’s funeral will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS meetinghouse, 875 East 200 North, Kaysville, Utah, with the viewing Tuesday evening, April 3 from 6:00-8:00 pm. and from 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to the services. Interment will be in the Kaysville City Cemetery.
