He continued farming alfalfa hay in his remaining years, finally retiring in 2005 to go fishing full time. He spent most of his retired time at Buckboard Marina at Flaming George and participated in the fishing derby, always collecting his prize for the “oldest fisherman there”.
Fred had the pleasure of going on the Honor Flight in 2015 accompanied with his son, Calvin and other World War II veterans to the Washington DC World War II Memorial.
Fred married Rosemond Nicholas in 1950 and to this marriage was born a baby boy, Bud (deceased), Calvin (Margaret), Alvin, (Pam), Norm (Susan), Myron (Cornelie) and Stanley (Lisa). Fred later married Helene McDonald and brought into that union two girls, LuAnn (Marty) Lee and Jo (Art) Satterlee. Helene passed away in Dec. 1996.
