Chauncey Kay Crittenden

February 13, 1923 — January 14, 2018

HOYTSVILLE-Our beloved dad, grandfather, cousin, boss, and a dear friend to all passed away in his home in Hoytsville, Utah on January 16, 2018.  He was born to Chauncey Arland Crittenden and Nellie Leon Rees in Coalville, UT.

Daughter Gayle Crittenden Swensen, his sister Fern, Brother Lloyd and his parents, preceded him in death.  He married his wife Marjorie Blonquist on June 25, 1942 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.  His wife Marjorie Blonquist Crittenden, survives him. He is also survived by sons Spencer K. Crittenden (Rolane), Scott Chauncey Crittenden (LoDell), brother Edmund (Joanne ) son-in-law Robert Swensen, sister-in-law Betty Crittenden, and grandchildren Janalee Swensen Potter (Rick), Kacey Swensen Bates (Dan), Tara Shalise Crittenden (Nathan), Matthew Chauncey Crittenden (Robin), many grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren.

Kay, as most people knew him, served in the Merchant Marine branch of the military from December 27, 1943 to March 4 1944.  He enjoyed fishing with Ted (amongst many others), hunting, antiques, gardening, and being a “Brave Supporter” for multiple generations and beyond.  He took being honored as a“Brave to the Bone” recipient with pride.  Kay worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for his entire life and was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 3. He loved his workers and working in the construction trade field.  Almost every Wednesday you could count on the good ole “Chicken Fries” with lots of friends and lots of laughs.  We likely can’t drive on a road in Utah that he didn’t help build.  We would like to thank the community for their support.  We would also like expressing our sincere gratitude to North Summit Fire/Ambulance Services and Encompass for their dedication to providing care.

There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 the evening of January 21st at the Hoytsville Church.  Services will be held on January 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. following a short viewing at 10:00 and in lie of flowers please contribute to the Missionary Fund of your choice.
